About us

Welcome to expertscoop!

This is a business blog created by a tight community of industry practitioners and thought leaders with the purpose of sharing the knowledge, the passion, and the networks we have cultivated through decades of experience.

Our contributors have known each other for many years and worked together extensively and in many capacities. Most of us are former colleagues and business partners. In many cases, we sold or bought goods, services (or entire businesses) from each other, or formed partnerships to develop new products or go to market together.

Most importantly, we have continuously learned from each other, helped each other deepen our business knowledge and grow our industry networks, and enjoy each other’s company, intellectual curiosity and shared passion for our work.

Our interests and expertise span across industries and business topics, but in this blog, we will focus – at least initially – on the following areas:
  • Marketing and distribution of fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG)
  • Consumer packaged goods (CPG) retail, especially grocery, drug, dollar and mass classes of trade
  • CPG advertising and marketing services in and around the physical store
  • Coupons, incentives, loyalty and other value vehicles for FMCG consumers
  • Connecting the online and offline experience for FMCG consumers across their entire shopping journey
  • New technologies, innovative products, companies and business models that are reshaping CPG marketing
  • Corporate strategy, alliances and partnerships, mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in the realm of CPG marketing and media
The founding principles we have committed to for this blog are:

I.
Expertise
We are industry practitioners and subject-matter experts – executives, operators and consultants. We each bring many decades of experience across industries (incl., CPG marketing, traditional and digital media, advertising, e-commerce, loyalty, mobile payments, financial services, etc.) and across functional areas (incl. marketing, corporate strategy, product development, innovation, sales and business development, merchandising, insights, analytics, etc.)

II. Independence
We are not beholden to any corporate or institutional agenda and not biased to any product, solution or business model. We explore both sides of any argument, and speak clearly and directly what we believe is true. We challenge each other, seek factual evidence and independent verification, and keep each other honest. The views expressed in this blog are solely those of each individual author.

III. Rigor
We value excellence and have high quality standards. We gather broad and diverse inputs from both qualitative and quantitative sources, apply rigorous and thoughtful analytics, and seek to extract relevant and actionable insights. We trust facts over fiction, data over folklore.

IV. Community
We are a fellowship of former colleagues, business partners and industry players with a shared passion. We created this blog as a shared platform and community to help each other grow intellectually and advance professionally. We believe in building open networks and connections that spread knowledge, foster innovative thinking, and create value for everyone.

We hope you enjoy our blog and find it both though-provoking and of practical use. Please feel free to follow us, share our posts, leave your comments, and connect with us across our social networks.

Happy reading!
